Vega Tamotia was born on 7th May 1985 in Chattisgarh, India. She moved to Sydney, Australia and graduated in Economics from the University of New South Wales. She was part of an exchange program and landed at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore.
Theater was a passion she indulged in as a child. She was part of the Broadway Drama Troupe.
