Gracey Singh |
Gracy Singh born on (20 July 1980 in Delhi, India), is an Indian actress, from Punjab. She is best known for her role as Gauri in Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India. She began her career touring with the dance group "The Planets" and her first acting role was in the television soap, Amanat, later she got an acting role in the film Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain as Kajol's younger sister and in Hu Tu Tu which lead her to her role opposite Aamir Khan in Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India where she played a village belle. She was nominated in this role for best debut actress, losing the award to Bipasha Basu.
She then began a number of hit films in Hindi and Telugu including Munnabhai M.B.B.S. and Santosham. She is director of the NGO Save our Souls for abolishing dowry.
She has also starred in Punjabi films such as Lakh pardesi hoye.
EducationGracy Singh studied at Manav Sthali School in New Delhi.

AwardsIn 2002 Awards of the International Indian Film Academy: won Special award "Face of the Year" was nominated for Popular Award Actress in a Leading Role for Lagaan. Also won the Screen Weekly Awards's Most Promising Newcomer and Zee Cine Awards Best Debut- Female both for Lagaan.
