Jandhyala Veera Venkata Durga Siva Subramanya Sastry Telugu (14 January 1951 - 19 June 2001) was a Telugu film Screenplay writer and Director, best-known for his comedy films.Jandhyala, popularly known as Hasya Brahma Jandhyala, was born into a Telugu Brahmin family on the auspicious day of Makara Sankranti (January 14) in 1951 at Narsapuram. Son of Jandhyala Papayya Sastry(famous telugu poet)
He graduated with B.Com. from SRR & CVR College in Vijayawada.Jandhyala married Annapurna, and has two daughters Sahiti and Sampada.
Jandhyala died on 19 June 2001.
Career
He was a good playwright during his college days. His first play 'Ek Din Ka Sultan' became a pretty popular play. His last play is Gundelu Marchabadunu. He entered the films as a lyricist though the film Punya Bhoomi Kallu Teru. His first released film was K. Vishwanath's Siri Siri Muvva. He was also a good dialogue writer, has written dialogues to the films like Shankarabharanam.
He turned into a director with the film Mudda Mandaram. His last film was 'Vichitram' was apparently his 60th film as a director.
He introduced a many comedy actors like Padmasri Bramhanandam, Suthi Velu and Suthi Veerabhadra Rao. His film with Usha Kiron movies Srivariki Premalekha became an all time great comedy movie. His movie Ananda Bhairavi was a milestone in his career and won many awards including the National award.
He directed several hits like Nalugu Sthambalata, Ananda Bhairavi, Rendu Rellu Aaru, Aha Naa Pellanta, Vivaha Bhojanambu, Choopulu Kalasina Subhavela, Chantabbai, Amara Jeevi, Seeta Rama Kalyanam and Padamati Sandhya Ragam.
He also acted in a film Aapadhbandavudu with Chiranjeevi as a father of the heroine. At the end of the film he is shown dying having dedicated all his works in a selfless way. In real life too, he died leaving behind him a legacy of excellent films. He also worked as a dubbing artist for few movies in telugu.
