Kommineni Seshagiri Rao (Telugu: కొమ్మినేని శేషగిరిరావు) was Telugu film director. He is the brother of Chakravarthy, famous Music Director. He hails from Ponnekallu village, near Tenali in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. |
Kommineni was an ardent fan of cinema from his early age. He started as an actor in Telugu cinema playing villain roles. During the period, his dialogue delivery in an aptly modulated reverberating voice bought him wide recognition. He portrayed as hero in the picture “Goppavari Gotraluâ€. Subsequently he has acted in about 50 films like Srikrishna Pandaveeyam, Thatha Manavadu (1972), Samsaram Sagaram
A director for the film Devethalaara Deevinchandi, maiden production by artist Giri Babu and also his second picture “Simha Gharjanaâ€. The film Thayaramma Bangarayya, produced by Edida Nageshwara Rao on Poornodaya banner, was a hit. Later it was remade into Tamil Language with Sivaji Ganesan as “Satyamsundaramâ€. He has directed “Koteeswarudu†with Akkineni Nageswara Rao as hero,â€Cheyyethi Jai Kottu†with Krishnam Raju as hero, â€Lakshmipooja†and “Mantradandam.
He died on December 5, 2008 at Chennai due to multiple organ failure disease. He was survived by a wife, four sons and one daughter.
