He is the original angry young man who with that
image arguably became the country's biggest star. After a gap of 20
years, the superstar is back to recreate the same magic he spelled on
the audience those days. The 68 year old Amitabh Bachchan in
'Bbuddah-Hoga Tera Baap' is seen doing everything he did in his prime
days.Tollywood's sensational director Puri Jagannadh directed Big B in
this action thriller. The movie earned profits even before its release
thanks to the modest budget that it was made in. Puri finished this film
with Rs 10 crore and sold the satellite rights of the film for Rs 13.5
crore!!!We went to the grand premiere of this flick on Thursday. This is
what we think of Puri and Big B's 'Bbuddah-Hoga Tera Baap'...
Story:
Vijju( Amitabh Bachchan) is a former gangster who is
settled in Paris. He runs a pub there. He comes to India for one last
assignment after years. He is a sharp shooter. Kabir Bhai (Prakash Raj)
is a mafia don who creates law and order problems in Mumbai. ACP Karan
(Sonu Sood) is a tough cop and arrests Kabir's men. An angry Kabir hires
a sharp shooter to get ACP Karan killed. The rest of the story is on
how Vijju comes in face to face with his past and how he accomplishes
his mission.
Performances:
Amitabh Bachchan is as energetic as he was two
decades ago. He fights, dances, rides a Harley Davidson, romances,
cries, flirts, threatens and chases with ease even at the age of 68.
Even the best of the pessimists will say 'Bbuddah-Hoga Tera Baap' after
watching him perform everything he re-did decades ago. I guess it is
blasphemy for one to analyse his acting skills or intensity of
performance. His performance is beyond analysis and review. He carries
the whole movie on his shoulders. He makes a style statement in every
frame he is seen in. Puri has succeeded in rewinding Amitabh to his
golden days and Big B's mannerisms, style, attire and attitude in
Bbuddah are a treat to his fans who have been craving for mass flicks
from the Bollywood Sehenshah. Raveena Tandon as the ex-lover of Big B
does a credible job. She set the screen on fire with her item number.
She can also say 'Bbuddi Hogi Teri Maa..'. Hema Malini looks graceful in
her short yet important role as the wife of Big B. Charmee gets a meaty
role in this movie. She is cute and chirpy. For Telugu audience who
have seen her already, her action might not come as a surprise. But for
Bollywood, she is surely a 'good find' this season. Prakash Raj and
Subbaraju leave a good impression on you as goons. Subba's 'Theda'
charecter is hilarious. Overall, the casting for this script was apt and
all the actors looked tailor made for their roles with Big B towering
above all of them.
Excerpts from the film:
Puri Jagannadh's dialogues are exceptionally good.
For instance, 'Jahaan Se Hum Kade Hojathe Hain, Vahin Se Line Shuroo
Hoti Hain' , Teri Beep ki Beep udadhoonga..'are brand Puri Jagannadh
dialogues. Hero throwing attitude is a cult Puri film and Amitabh's
attitude is one of the biggest USP of this film. Amitabh's style of
talking to the sage who was his ex-friend is a laugh riot. The story is
twisty and holds your attention. The second half of the movie and more
so the climax of this film is impressive. A few dialogues are a copy
from Puri's own Telugu films which might disappoint a few audience from
AP.For instance the story of a sparrow on which a cow shits and a cat
eats it after that was used before in a Telugu film. Amitabh's energy
amazes you all through the film.He charms you with his 'i don't care'
attitude on the screen. Big B's costumes match his attitude. He looks
edgy and effortlessly cool with those shades. Raveena Tandon's item
number 'Main Chandigarh Di Star' is whistle worthy. The comic scenes in
this film are situational and well knitted in the story.
Verdict:
The motive of cinema is to entertain.'Bbuddah-Hoga
Tera Baap' does that.Purpose is solved.Go watch the film and get
entertained. After watching the movie, look at Amitabh's poster and say
'Bbuddah-Hoga Tera Baap....
