Chef Kalyan (Aadhi Pinishetty) runs 12 Tables restaurant in Hyderabad which is very successful and he is featured in various magazines for his great culinary skills. He is blind.
His childhood friend Anu (Rithika) wants to marry him but he likes Vennela (Tapsee) who meets him requesting for leftover food for pavement dwellers.
She tells him that call money gang is after her and her father for loan repayment. To protect themselves, they are leaving the city.
On the same night, he meets with an accident and during the surgery his vision is restored. But he cant trace the whereabouts of Vennela. Where has she gone? What is the twist in the story?
Neevevaro is said to be based on a Tamil hit movie Adhe Kangal. The basic plotline sounds good. However, the screenplay is not at all tight.
The films strength lies in the last 20 minutes. The twist and the portion have novelty factor but the proceedings are utterly dull.
The film begins like a triangle love story a track with Tapsee and an angle with Ritika is established first. Till interval, the film dodges on this thread and suddenly turns into a kind of investigative thriller.
The suspense element appears at midpoint in the second half. Till then the film goes along with scenes in lethargic way. Thankfully, the later portions are deftly handled.
As said before, the story has enough meat to make it a riveting thriller. The villain is a surprising element in the story, the angle of villain is completely new. It has not been explored before.
The new director has shown his mark in the final portions as the main attraction of this film lies there. So, here the director has not failed.
Yet, the film doesnt give complete satisfaction. Main reason is that the characterization of the protagonist is bad. His character looks like mass hero in an action movie than a simple blind chef. He investigates like a professional detective, while the constable (Vennela Kishore) acts like a buffoon. He has been blind but he acts like a guy who knows everything just after his vision is restored.
We see such silliness in mass movies, but the same doesnt look good in concept based thrillers as people expect reality here.
If only, writer Kona and director Harinath had made the entire movie gripping like the climax portions, the result would have been different. It finally ends up as an bland thriller with some better moments in the second half.
On the whole, Neevevaro has interesting concept, but it lacks consistent exciting narration and bores.
