Vishwaroopam 2 Movie Review

Release Date: Friday 10th August 2018

Kamal Haasan, Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Shekhar Kapur, Waheeda Rehman and others

Indias spy agent Wisam (Kamal Hasan) and his wife Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) are in London now after their first mission (which was shown in first part).

Wisam is again on a mission to nab terrorist Omar Qureshi (Rahul Bose) who is seeking revenge and planning bomb threats in Delhi. But the crux of the story remains the same as the first part  nabbing Omar.

This is sequel to Kamal Haasans 2013 hit movie Vishwaroopam that boasted of high quality work from technicians and solid plot. This sequel which was in the making for nearly five years narrates the story of what happened before the first part, and also shows the new incidents.

The film tries to be sequel and prequel and puts too many things in short span making it an incoherent story.

The story begins with Kamal Haasan travelling in a plane along with beautiful ladies Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) and Asmitha (Andrea). In the beginning, the film establishes how Kamal trained Andrea at military academy and she dreaming about him as his lover.

Later, the movie cuts to the sequences of what happened in the first part. Then there is an attempted assassination on Kamal. Then comes romantic track between Kamal and Pooja Kumar. Then the track moves to Wisam and Pooja (who is also nuclear oncologist) trying to diffuse a bomb in sea. It goes on without any coherence and ends like a failed bomb. Thusssss

Kamal Haasan had a great opportunity to take this spy thriller franchise forward as the first part had many thrilling moments. However, he has wasted good opportunity with poor direction and bad scripting.

The film has many scenes that are like explanation to what happened in the first part and why did they happen than telling a new story. This is a jumbled mess.

Added to this, both Pooja Kumar and Andrea flirt with Kamal with some lines that are so bad in Telugu. Kamal Haasan also kisses Pooja Kumar and also does a romantic scene that looks bad.

There are only couple of good scenes in the first half and an endearing sequence in the second half involving Kamal Haasan and his mother (Waheeda Rehman) who is suffering from Alzheimers. The climax is even bad.

Overall, Vishwaroopam 2 is dull and boring with no coherent scenes. It is superficial sequel that is totally forgettable.
