Analysis:-
Director Maruthi has made a trend by making movies wherein protagonist suffers from a rare non-fatal disease. Bhale Bhale Magadivoy (memory problem) and Mahanubhavudu (OCD) are best examples.
As they have become hits, new director Sanjana Reddy has come up with kleptomania for her maiden movie Raju Gadu.
According to the rolling titles, the story idea is also given by Maruthi. However, she has failed to add anything new to brand of Maruthis concepts other than telling it with outdated jokes.
In the entire first half, there is only one hilarious scene: when Praveen tries to open fly of a guy thinking he was opening the wallet of a guy. Of course, this is in poor taste but at least it has made laugh out loud for a moment in this drab and outdated movie.
The story itself is such clumsy one. A village landlord cuts off hands of a thief for stealing some food and all villagers accept it as if he is a Supreme Court judge. With such old fashioned scenes and situations, Sanjana Reddy has tried to engage us.
The entire first half is about Raj Tarun and Amrya falling in love. Post interval, the movie moves to another story within the story. And towards the pre climax, it moves to another direction with more illogical sequences and more subplots.
By the time the film reaches to the end, the audiences would be fully exhausted with all these stories and outdated scenes. Many of the sequences remind us 70s and 80s era movies.
Raj Tarun who shot to fame with back to back hits is now picking up illogical plots and bringing his image down himself. This one completely tests the patience.
The new female director has not shown any mark of intelligence or creativity in the entire show.
