Babu (Nani) is poor at studies but passes after attempting many supplementary exams. Irritated by his constant appearances at exams an invigilator cum lecturer helps him out copying from the book.
Like in all Telugu movies, she says no to him but gets disturbed by his thoughts eventually. Now, her dad who is the same lecturer who helped Nani to get pass marks does not like Babu. He arranges her marriage with a police Inspector (Naveen Chandra).
Director Trinadha Rao and his writer team Prasanna Kumar have given us earlier an entertaining movie called Cinema Choopista Mama featuring Raj Tharun in the lead role. The movie became a hit due to its entertainment. Similarly for this movie also, the writer and director team has followed the pattern.
What is there in Cinema Choopista Mama is also there here in Nenu Local. Raj Tarun falls for the charm of Avika, she doesn't accept his love first but he relentlessly follows her and makes her agree to it, then her father puts completely breaks to their love. Raj Tharun then takes a challenge. Replace Raj Tarun with Nani and Avika with Keerthy and you get the story for Nenu Local.
What is extra in the film is that the writer and director have added scenes from the movies like Idiot, Premante Idera, and scores of other movies that released in the last decade and half. It is remixed version of all these films.
The film begins with Nanis voiceover that people recall everything when they are about to die. As a gun is pointed at him, he recalls his love story. This is interesting, but what follows isnot. The first scene is novel, but rest of the drama is routine.
The movie picks up the momentum when he tries to convince Keerthy to get disturbed by him and fall for him. The moment she gets disturbed, the fun factor goes off and it falls into again formulaic way.
The interval twist is quite predictable. In how many films have we not seen the heroine's father fixing her marriage with another guy. But the back-story for Naveen Chandras character is interesting though.
Till the interval the drama goes on funny manner though it is predictable. But post interval the time-pass moments are few. When Naveen Chandra puts Nani in jail for a petty case, Nani comes up with an idea, which is most idiotic and lengthy. Second half runs on such sequences, as there is no proper script.
What works in the film is Nani's energetic performance and songs. Nani makes many dull moments livelier and his dialogue delivery sure would bring claps. Devi Sri Prasads songs have helped.
All in all, Nenu Local completely has relied on Nanis acting and some fun moments but it is nothing but remixed version of many movies. Predictability is the main issue.
