CNG to cost Rs 29 per kg in Delhi |

ew Delhi: Close on the heels of a petrol price hike, compressed natural gas (CNG) rates have been revised upward to Rs 29 per kg in the national capital with effect from midnight tonight.
"Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) has raised the CNG prices for automobiles from Rs 27.75 to Rs 29 per kg because of an increase in the input cost," an official said.
Last month, petrol prices in the national capital were raised by Rs 2.94-2.96 per litre in sync with the rise in global oil rates.
IGL had last hiked the CNG price in Delhi on October 1, when the rates were increased by Rs 0.25 per kg to Rs 27.75 per kg.
Today's hike has been necessitated due to a rise in the input cost of gas.
IGL has fully exhausted its quota of government-regulated gas, called APM gas, and allocation from Reliance Industries' eastern offshore KG-D6 fields, so it now needs to source higher-priced imported LNG to meet demand at its outlets.
The Rs 1.25 per kg hike is mainly due to this reason, the official said.
